Our Mission

I strive to serve families of individuals with medical complexity and/or special needs up to the age of 21. As an experienced community Pediatrician of over a decade as well as a parent to a child with special needs myself, I have a unique skill set to offer. It would be my privilege to help you navigate state resources and identify the best medical and therapy care possible for your child!

Nicole McKinney MD

In 2006, I moved to Colorado for residency at Children’s Hospital of Colorado. In 2012, I became a Pediatric Hospitalist in Colorado Springs. I became familiar with taking care of patients with complex care needs in the hospital before transitioning to the clinic in 2015 where I have remained since. In 2012, I gave birth to my son Ryden. Ryden has Williams Syndrome and Autism. I learned to be a tireless advocate for him and my patients. I serve many special needs families in the community through my practice and leadership roles. I have a unique lens as both a general pediatrician with experience caring for complex patients and a special needs parent. This equips me to effectively partner with families to help find the best resources and services available in Colorado. Together we can ensure that you have the best care team and supports for your child.

What does Complex Care Consulting do?

I am a general pediatrician and also a special needs mom. I am familiar with resources in this state in terms of funding, medical and therapeutic care, and community supports that could be available to your child. I will interview families and review medical records to point you in the right direction for care. I can speak to physicians to help ensure your child gets optimal care and all the supports they need.

Do you accept insurance?

Complex Care Consulting LLC does not accept insurance. I want to provide thoughtful comprehensive care coordination outside of the confines of the medical insurance paradigm that often puts profit before quality. Funding opportunities in the community that provide reimbursement for families could be available if your child is a recipient of a medicaid waiver with an intellectual disability diagnosis through Developmental Pathways, Rocky Mountain Human Services, and Developmental Disabilities Resource Center. Also, an HSA card can be used for payment in addition to credit cards.

Do you have an office?

I will provide remote consulting services making it convenient for you to get care coordination without the hassle of coming in to an office! I can also be present remotely for your child's provider appointments if needed.
